When I discovered that I would be going to New Orleans at the beginning of the fall semester, I was overly ecstatic, truly thinking that it would be an amazing time, so much farther in the future. But now, only a mere day from arriving in the city, I have begun to feel slightly nervous along with the excitement. I have never traveled this far before, and I have no idea what the city is like. From what I have read and heard about New Orleans, it is a lively city, a place like no other with incredible jazz music and delicious, yet spicy food. But not only will I be able to experience the culture of the city, but I will also have the opportunity to work on a home that has yet to be rebuilt from Hurricane Katrina, almost 10 years ago. I will be able to help be a small part of the great effort of rebuilding that has been ongoing since the storm happened. Since I have never worked on a house before, I am excited to learn what it is I will have to do. Whatever it is, I cannot wait to arrive later today.
